Ed Whitlock - Athlete (Athletics) - Class of 2016

Ed Whitlock's running prowess can be summed up in two words - world class.
He is known for his wispy white hair and daily training runs along the path of Evergreen cemetery.
The English born, Canadian long-distance wonder first ran as a teenager and took up the sport again in his 40s.
Since then, Ed has set 36 age-class world records including most recently the 1500m, mile, 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon.
A superstar on the International Masters racing scene, he is the first and only person age 70 or older to ever run a marathon in under three hours - having done so three times (2:59:10 at age 72, 2:54:48 at age 73 and 2:58:40 at age 74). In October 2016 Ed was the first man age 85 or older to run a marathon in under 4 hours (3:56:38).
Now in his mid-80s, Ed continues to be an inspiration to runners of all ages, worldwide.
